Terms of Service
These terms cover engagements with Jason Burns (sole trader, England) for SEO, GEO and AI consultancy. They sit alongside the proposal or scope email you receive before any paid work starts - if anything in the proposal contradicts these terms, the proposal wins.
The work
I provide independent consultancy: technical SEO, generative engine optimisation (GEO), AI workflow design, content strategy, training and audits. The exact scope is agreed in writing before work starts.
Pricing and payment
- Day rate is £450. Half day £225. Multi-day projects from £1,800. Monthly retainers from £1,800. Current rates are on the pricing page.
- Day and project work is invoiced on completion. Retainers are invoiced monthly in advance.
- Payment terms are 14 days from invoice date unless your proposal says otherwise.
- Payment is by UK bank transfer (BACS). Late invoices accrue statutory interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
- VAT is not charged.
Cancellation and notice
- Day and project work. Once started, the agreed deliverables are completed and invoiced. If you cancel after work has begun, you pay for time and materials already used.
- Retainers. Either side can end a retainer with 30 days' written notice. There is no minimum term beyond the first month.
- Postponement. Bookings can be moved with at least 5 working days' notice at no cost. Inside that window, half the day rate applies.
AI visibility checks and monthly improvements
AI Search Watch has separate one-off and monthly service terms. Those terms take precedence over the payment and cancellation rules above for these products.
The AI visibility check costs £79 once. It does not start a subscription. Optional monthly improvements cost £149 per month and include one agreed content edit to an existing page, up to 400 words and one revision, plus repeat checks and a reviewed report. No VAT is added.
Stripe takes monthly payments in advance until cancelled. Cancel renewal in your subscriber account before the next payment. Your current paid period continues. Website access and the first edit must be agreed before subscribing. Work beyond the included edit is quoted separately.
Digital toolkits
These terms take precedence over the consultancy payment and cancellation terms for downloadable toolkits. Terms version: 2026-09-21-toolkits.
The SEO Content Brief Prompt Pack is also a downloadable toolkit under these terms. It contains five text prompts, four editable templates, three fictional examples and an offline HTML guide. Its listed price is £29 once, with no VAT, delivery charge or subscription added. Purchases are available only when checkout is open. Your AI account, research and review are separate. You may share resulting briefs with clients; do not redistribute or resell the pack. It includes no bespoke research, implementation or ongoing updates.
The SEO Redirect Toolkit costs £29 once. No VAT, delivery charge or subscription is added. You review your details and pay by card through Stripe. Your private confirmation page provides the ZIP download after payment is verified. You can print or save that page as your order confirmation.
The English-language ZIP contains a Python script, four prompts, CSV examples and an offline guide. It requires Python 3.10 or newer on Windows, macOS or Linux. No additional Python packages or API key are needed. An AI assistant is optional and its fees and upload limits are separate.
The purchasing person or business may use and adapt the toolkit for its own sites and client work. Finished reports and redirect maps may be shared with clients. The toolkit source files and prompts must not be redistributed or resold.
The tool checks HTTP responses and supplied URL lists. It does not install redirects, render JavaScript or guarantee complete URL discovery. You remain responsible for reviewing page matches and approving website changes. Access help and reproducible bug support are included. Bespoke advice, migration implementation and an ongoing update subscription are not included.
Consumers retain their 14-day right to cancel from the purchase date. To cancel, email hello@jasonburns.co.uk with your name and order number. Nothing here removes your statutory rights for faulty or misdescribed digital content. Contact me at the same address for download access or bugs.
Intellectual property
Anything I produce specifically for you (audits, briefs, recommendations, custom content, custom prompts) becomes yours once the invoice is paid. My underlying tools, frameworks and templates remain mine - you have a perpetual licence to use what was delivered, but not to resell my methods as your own.
Confidentiality
I treat your data, plans, account access and metrics as confidential. I will not share them outside the engagement except where required by law. I am happy to sign a separate NDA if you need one.
Results
SEO, GEO and AI work depends on factors outside my control - search engine algorithm changes, model behaviour shifts, your site's technical state, your team's execution. I commit to doing the work to a senior professional standard. I do not guarantee specific rankings, traffic numbers or business outcomes.
Liability
To the extent permitted by English law, my total liability for any engagement is capped at the fees you have paid me for that engagement in the previous 12 months. I am not liable for indirect, consequential or business-interruption losses. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
Subcontracting
I work directly. I do not subcontract client work to third parties without your written agreement.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
Changes
If these terms change for new engagements, I update this page. Existing engagements run on the terms in force when they started.
