Key takeaways
- £79 once buys a personally reviewed AI visibility check. Five agreed questions, three platforms, one website and three priorities. No VAT added.
- A missing mention is a finding to investigate. It does not prove why you were left out or how many customers you lost.
- Optional help costs £149 a month. It includes repeat checks and one agreed page edit. Buying the check never starts a subscription.
I've launched a £79 AI visibility check for small UK businesses. It answers a question I think deserves a plain answer: when someone asks AI for the service you sell, does your business appear?
I check five agreed buyer questions across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and Perplexity. You get a PDF that I have reviewed, with the evidence and three priorities for your website. There is no VAT added and no subscription to start.
If you want help with the changes, there is a separate £149 monthly service. I'll explain both, including when I would choose neither.
Why I made the check small#
Picture a plumber in Northampton. A homeowner asks, “Who repairs leaking taps in Northampton?” The answer names other firms. The plumber's website never comes up.
That example is easy to grasp. Working out what to do about it takes more care. Did the answer link to a rival's service page? Did it name a firm through a local directory? Was there even a search-backed answer to assess?

A buyer is looking for a local plumber.
They ask for a service and a place. They have not supplied your business name.

Turn a missing mention
into a useful next step.
- Record
- The question, answer and cited pages.
- Compare
- What the source pages explain that yours does not.
- Prioritise
- For this example: explain your repair services and local coverage.
Fictional businesses and answers. This is an example, not a live search or an actual customer result.
I wanted a starting point for an owner who needs those details without buying a broad SEO project. A narrow check keeps the price clear and the next step small enough to act on.
You may see this work called GEO or AEO. Those labels cover efforts to improve visibility in AI answers. For this service, the useful question is more direct: what did the answer show, and what is worth changing?
A mention is useful. It is not a new customer.#
AI search visibility describes how your business appears in answers from AI platforms. Different answer engines may name you, cite your website or recommend a competitor. Those are separate findings.
Your business is named.
An answer links to your page.
Your firm is suggested for the job.
A person gets in touch.
These are not guaranteed steps in a funnel. A brand mention may have no link. A citation may support a fact without recommending the firm. Even a clear recommendation may produce no visit or call.
The report looks at the answers and their sources. It does not measure your sales or claim to know every answer a customer might see.
For business results, keep watching your organic search traffic and enquiries over time. A visibility check is one part of an SEO strategy. OpenAI explains that ChatGPT referral links include a tracking tag. That can help you identify visits in analytics. A visit still needs to lead to something useful.
What £79 buys, and what it leaves out#
The check covers one website, one UK target area and up to three competitors. We agree five questions that reflect what your buyers ask. I record one answer per question on each of the three platforms, where an answer is available.
Here are the benefits and limits side by side.
| What you get | The benefit | The limit |
|---|---|---|
| Five agreed questions | A focused look at real buying needs. | A small sample. It cannot cover your whole market. |
| Three AI platforms | See how the answers differ across ChatGPT, AI Overviews and Perplexity. | Other engines and ordinary Google or Bing rankings are outside this check. |
| Competitors and sources | See who appeared instead and which pages were cited. | A rival's inclusion does not reveal the platform's full reasoning. |
| My review and three priorities | A short list of actions with reasons behind them. | The one-off price covers advice, not website edits. |
| A PDF by email | A record you can keep or give to the person who updates your site. | It is a dated snapshot, not a live dashboard. |
| One clarification email | Ask me to explain a finding. | Calls, new analysis and extra work are separate. |
You can see the full one-off offer and sample report before paying. After checkout, you send a short brief. We agree the questions and I confirm delivery by email.
Why am I not ranking in ChatGPT?#
That is the question the report helps you investigate. ChatGPT can name other firms without revealing every reason for its choice. I look at the answer and cited sources, then compare them with your website.
A score can tell you that something changed. It cannot tell you what your next website edit should be.
Take the plumber example. If the answer cites a competitor's page with clear repair details, I would compare those details with yours. I would not assume that copying that page would get you included.
Buyer question
Who repairs leaking taps in Northampton?
- Observed
- A competing firm is named. Its repair page is cited.
- Gap to review
- Your page names the town but gives little detail about the repairs you do.
- Suggested action
- Add the repairs you offer, your service area and a genuine example of the work.
This is a reason to improve the page. It is not proof of why the AI left you out.
That distinction matters. Content can be clearer for buyers without an immediate change in an AI response. I would rather give you a sound reason for an edit than pretend to know a hidden ranking rule.
Google's own guidance points to familiar SEO work: accessible pages, useful text, internal links and current business details. It says there are no extra technical requirements for AI Overviews beyond its stated Search eligibility rules.
If your site has a wider access problem, that may deserve a separate technical SEO review. A small content edit will not solve every issue.
How I measure AI visibility without hiding the limits#
Five questions across three platforms gives us 15 planned checks. It does not give us 15 customers or a measure of your share of the market.
If Google shows no AI Overview, I record that result as unavailable for comparison. It is not a missing mention. Google confirms that AI Overviews do not appear for every query.
Some tools use metrics such as share of voice or mention rate. Those figures depend on the set of prompts, competitors and platforms being measured. A different set can give a different result. I keep the actual questions and answers beside the findings so you can see the basis for each claim.
For repeat checks, I keep the questions and target area consistent. I record the date and platform, with the model or search mode where available. This makes the baseline more useful, but it does not remove variation.
OpenAI's search guide explains that location and saved memory can affect a search. A single answer from your own account is therefore a starting point, not the final word on your brand visibility.
What the optional £149 monthly service does#
The monthly service adds one agreed content edit to an existing page. It covers up to 400 words and one revision. I repeat the same five questions, review the answers and record what changed.
You get a PDF and a private account with a summary of the findings. This is work I carry out and review. It is not an automated system that scans or changes your website on its own.
Before you subscribe, we confirm website access and agree the first edit. You supply the facts and approve the draft before I publish it.
New pages, design, development, links and calls cost extra. There is no setup fee or VAT added. You can cancel before the next renewal. The £79 check never turns into a monthly bill.
I cannot promise better AI rankings. I can commit to the agreed work and a clear record of the checks. If the issue calls for a larger AI search optimisation project, I will say so.
Should you do it yourself, buy a check or get monthly help?#
To start on your own, pick a service and a place you serve. Ask a few natural buying questions without putting your business name in the prompt. Save the answers, dates and links. Then check the cited pages for yourself.
If that gives you enough to act on, use it. If you want someone to weigh up the evidence, the one-off check is there. If you sell many products and need hundreds of prompts tracked, a dedicated tool may be a better fit than this service.
My aim is to give a small business a useful first decision. You can decide what help, if any, is worth paying for after that.
